This is not a shutdown of the Diamond Casino & Resort. Players can still enter the building, own and visit a Master Penthouse, play Casino Story Missions, request Casino Work and run the Diamond Casino Heist. The block is aimed at interactive wagering-style features. Rockstar's own guide continues to describe the penthouse and its mission access separately from casino-floor gambling.
Why Australia May Be Different
Australia's classification rules require an R18+ rating for video games containing simulated gambling. Those rules took effect for new classifications in September 2024. Separately, age-restricted online-content codes came into effect in March 2026. GTA Online was reportedly reclassified on Xbox in July without "high impact gambling" in its new consumer advice, which is consistent with the casino games being unavailable—but it does not prove who requested the change or why.
Casino Chips are purchased with GTA$, not cashed out for real money. Even so, GTA$ can also be acquired through Shark Cards, which creates the kind of virtual-currency link that regulators and platform holders scrutinize. Rockstar may have acted cautiously, but until it comments, that remains analysis rather than fact.
Does This Tell Us Anything About GTA 6?
Not yet. Rockstar currently markets GTA VI as a single-player release and has not announced its successor to GTA Online. There is no official confirmation that GTA VI contains casino gambling, an online casino or region-specific content restrictions. The Australian change does show that Rockstar can disable individual activities by territory, so similar compliance tools could be used in a future online product—but that is the limit of the evidence.
