GTA VI has two main editions, one separately purchasable upgrade, and different rules for digital and physical buyers. The simplest choice is also the most useful: buy Standard if you want the complete game; buy Ultimate only if the named story bonuses are worth the additional cost to you. Rockstar says Standard owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade later, so there is no need to pay for uncertainty.
This comparison uses Rockstar Support and the current US PlayStation and Xbox storefronts. Prices, taxes, subscription redemption, and availability can differ by country. The page separates official package contents from assumptions about how powerful, rare, or exclusive an item may feel in the final game.

What the Standard Edition Includes
The Standard Edition includes Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar does not describe it as a reduced campaign or limited-access version. Eligible digital purchases made before November 20, 2026 also receive the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+.

Physical Standard pre-orders also include a code for the game and Vintage Vice City Pack. The Rockstar Store lists the GTA+ month as a digital pre-order bonus only, so physical buyers should not assume that subscription benefit is included unless their retailer's official terms explicitly say so.
Every Official Ultimate Edition Benefit
Rockstar describes the Ultimate bonuses as items threaded across Jason and Lucia's story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter. The official list names 16 benefits but does not publish their monetary value, unlock chapter, performance advantage, or whether equivalent non-Ultimate items can be earned.
Do not overread the names
A named compound, garage, shop, salon, or tattoo parlor confirms an Ultimate benefit. It does not by itself establish passive income, exclusive missions, permanent ownership rules, or a specific upgrade system.
Can You Upgrade from Standard Later?
Yes. Rockstar Support says Standard owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately at any time after the game code has been redeemed. The current US Xbox listing prices that upgrade at $20, matching the difference between the $79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate editions. Platform pricing can change or vary by region.
This makes Standard the lower-risk choice for undecided buyers: you can play first, see how the benefits are delivered, and then decide whether the upgrade is useful. Confirm the live store price before purchasing because a platform storefront, not this guide, controls the transaction.
Physical Edition: Code in the Box, No Disc
Rockstar's support page says the physical GTA VI version contains a digital download code and no disc. Physical copies are expected to ship or become available for pickup beginning November 12 so buyers can redeem the code and preload before the November 19 launch.
There is no physical Ultimate Edition listed. A physical Standard buyer can redeem the included game code and then purchase the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade through PlayStation or Microsoft. Because the box is not a playable disc, collectors and second-hand buyers should pay close attention to whether a code has already been redeemed.
Collector's Box and Upgrade Availability
On 24 September 2026 Rockstar announced The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a limited-edition Collector's Box arriving 19 November, sold at store.rockstargames.com while supplies last. It contains merchandise (a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure, Oakley sunglasses, a New Era cap, a magnetic mirror, a swizzle spoon, a keychain, a crossbody bag, a shot glass, an enamel pin set, stickers and a poster) and the game is sold separately. Pre-order details for Asia, Latin America and Australia were not yet announced.
The PlayStation Store shows the standalone Ultimate Edition Upgrade as "Unavailable" during pre-order, while the Xbox page lists it at $20.00. Rockstar Support (search excerpt) says the upgrade can be bought after the Standard code is redeemed, so expect it to appear once the game is playable.
GTA+ Bonus and Auto-Renewal
Eligible digital purchases include one month of GTA+ (listed as a digital pre-order bonus by the Rockstar Store and PlayStation). On PlayStation, the offer must be claimed by March 31, 2027 and the membership continues at the regular monthly price unless canceled. Existing subscribers can have the month added after claiming it. The Xbox US page read on 28 September shows no GTA+ terms, so redemption rules there are not confirmed on this page. PlayStation words the GTA+ offer as pre-ordering "before November 20, 2026"; no official page states a cut-off hour or time zone, so buy early on 19 November if you are close to the deadline.

GTA 6 Price by Country
The US, UK, Australian and Dutch prices are read directly from PlayStation and Xbox store listings on 29 September 2026; every other row is Reported by an outlet. "Confirmed" here means shown on the platform holder's own store, not announced by Rockstar. Rockstar's Newswire posts state no price. The Rockstar Store lists the Standard Edition in local currency (EUR 79.99 in the Netherlands, read 29 Sep); the USD figures come from PlayStation and Xbox. The other regional figures were reported by outlets in June and July 2026 from store listings and have not been re-read here; the platform holder sets prices in each country. Check your own store before buying.
